Here is an updated list of clothing donations that are needed at this time.

All of the clothing donated to Homebound Missions goes to Haiti.  For this reason we specifically need summer clothing, as the weather in Haiti is consistently in the 90’s.

New and gently used items are welcomed.  Baby clothes with stains are also welcome as we will treat them to remove the stains.

One of the most enjoyable parts of going to Haiti is the preparation.  There are things to purchase for our friends and loved ones, service opportunities to organize, and then the packing it all up in the alotted amount of weight and luggage.  For this trip we are being aloud to bring 6 check-ins with a maximum weight of 300 pounds.  This may sound like a lot, but it really isn’t when you consider that there are three of us wanting to bless a lot of people.

Last week we did our shopping.  The twins, Kathi and Kathianna (my name sakes) have a completely new wardrobe compliments of Auntie Kathy.  And yes, they will be dressed alike against the wishes of Magnalie who says that they need their own style.

Magnalie really wanted to bless her family in a very big way and so she has purchased new shoes for them, some clothing, and many other household and personal items.  Her major investment however, was in purchasing all of the items her mother could possibly need for this years sewing school curriculum.  I can tell you that Mimose has everything she needs to work for a long time.  Magnalie is also bringing a crochet pattern to teach her mother, so she can have another item to add to her creations.   I am so thankful to see Magnalie wanting to be a part of her families future success.

Debbie has called me everyday to share her shopping ventures.  The guys in Haiti are going to have their much coveted bright pink flipflops if she can have anything to say about it.  She has presently purchased all the available bright pink flip flops in the Cape Cod area.

But on a more serious note.  Debbie, Magnalie and I really wanted an opportunity to serve.  As many of you know Magnalie is a Senior at Blackstone Vally Tech in the Cosmotology program and so we decided to use Magnalie’s newly acquired skills to bless the women of Heartline Ministries,  who attend the women’s program.  So, us girls are going to spend an entire day loving on the Haitian women who attend the weekly prenatal/ postpartum class.  The ladies will receive a shampoo and conditioning, braiding, manicure and pedicure.  We are calling it a day of beauty and we hope these women will leave feeling the love of Jesus all over.

Non of the travel expenses or personal gift items mentioned here are paid for by Homebound Missions.  These are all personal expenses and  contributions that we have paid for ourselves.

6 Months Later…

Dear friends, family and supporters -

It has been six months since the earthquake that claimed hundreds of thousands of lives and left millions displaced, injured and hopeless in Haiti. The headlines today scream that the rebuilding and relief efforts have slowed or that little is being done. Yes and no.

Sure, much lies ahead in Haiti’s recovery, but much has been accomplished with your help in our neighborhood of Petion-ville. We refuse to give in to discouragement. We choose instead to focus on what we are called to do. Families have been united, thousands have been treated medically, scores of tents and basic supplies have been distributed as we continue to serve our school children, the newly orphaned, our staff and our community in Haiti. We soldier on, grateful to those who continue to give and to travel and to support us in our efforts.

Three Angels would like to share what lies next for us:

Donate Today 2

As you can see the biggest changes to Three Angels will be location and breadth of service. We are still committed to the orphaned, to education and to providing quality medical care. We have a proven record of excelling in these areas and we now have the opportunity to augment this service. At the heart is our new Community Center. This is our multi-use facility that will house the new Haitian-led church and education programs.

Relief efforts will not stop for the foreseeable future in Haiti. We will continue to keep our school and medical center open and run those programs concurrently with the construction of our new facility. We continue to care for the widowed and orphaned in our community. Haiti needs the best we can give them. Now more than ever. We look forward to updating you on our progress!

In our last newsletter, we celebrated the new business that Job was able to start after Homebound Missions helped him to purchase a truck which he turned into a taptap.  He is now offering taptap service in Haiti and earning a wage to support his family.

There was a small gliche in his plans.  He notified Tyler and I that the engine had died.  Homebound Missions has sent him additional funds to assist with having a new engine put in the truck.  It comes with a gaurantee.  We sent him the final payment last week and he is back in service.

When I am in Haiti next week I will be checking on the vehicle and will take pictures for everyone to see.  Please continue to pray for Job as he starts his new business that the Lord will bless Job and that he will in turn bless others.  His family is such a testimony to others of God’s faithfulness.

Welcome to the all new and improved Homebound Missions Blog.  This new blog will serve as a tool for keeping you informed of all that is happening at Homebound Missions.   Some of the things we will be covering:

  • Our Families
  • Organizations we Source
  • Day to Day
  • How you can Help
  • Family Resources
  • Kangas Family
  • Contests

We will keep it interesting and mix it up a little with guest bloggers, contests, Haiti trip details, and more.  We also encourage you to comment and share your ideas.  You may be surprised to see what your donations, time and effort allows HM’s to accomplish.  In essence, you are Homebound Missions and in reality this is the work you have walked along side us to accomplish, so Thank you and enjoy!
